February editor’s letter

Love (like UI) actually is all around

The romance industrial complex has made sure that the whole month of February is associated with love, but let’s be honest: Sometimes dealing with UI makes loving ourselves—or feeling that others can love us—difficult, and Hallmark’s certainly not writing any cards about loving us for our UI and all.

So this month, we wanted to take a look at love in lots of forms. Self-love, a mother’s love, and, you know, makin’ love. One of our writers talks about learning to trust herself when it comes to understanding her own body after years of misdiagnoses; another talks about how UI brings a new perspective to motherhood; and one gives us a very intimate glimpse into a tentative return to sex after pelvic floor therapy. We also review Icon underwear—perfect for a hot date without having to worry.

UI is so often thought of as a physical thing, but just as often it takes an emotional toll — calling into question that most basic ability to love and be loved. But everyone deserves big, fulfilling love, leaks and all. And that’s something to write greeting cards about.
